Driveway Snow Clearing in Kitchener
Single, double and long rural driveways cleared to the surface, with the plow windrow at the apron broken up and removed.
A driveway is the reason most people hire a snow contractor, and it is the part of the job where Kitchener Snow & Ice sees the difference between machines and operators show up fastest.
Cleared to the Surface
We clear down to the pavement rather than leaving a compacted layer behind. A packed base looks fine on the day and becomes a problem within a week. Waterloo Region cycles above and below freezing repeatedly through the winter, and every one of those cycles turns a compacted layer into a sheet that no amount of salt fixes cheaply.
The Windrow at the Apron
When the municipal plow clears your street it deposits a ridge of dense broken snow across the end of your driveway. It is heavier than fresh snowfall because it has already been compacted and mixed with road grit, and it hardens quickly once temperatures drop overnight.
Breaking up and clearing that ridge is included in driveway service. If the municipal plow comes through after we have already been by, that is normal during a long storm, and seasonal customers get the apron reopened rather than being told the visit was already used.
Surfaces and Stacking
Asphalt, concrete and interlocking pavers all behave differently under a blade. Pavers can lift slightly with frost, so equipment runs a fraction higher with a softer edge to avoid catching one. We note the surface at quoting.
Where the snow gets stacked matters more than people expect. A pile in the wrong corner blocks the view pulling onto the street, buries a gas meter, or crushes shrubs. On a narrow lot the stacking plan is genuinely the constraint by late season, which is why we walk the property before quoting rather than pricing off a satellite image.

Driveway Snow Clearing Questions
Where does the snow actually go?
We assess that when we quote. Most properties have a corner or boundary that takes a season of stacking without blocking a sightline at the road or burying a garden bed. On tight lots the stacking plan matters more than the machine, and by February the piles are what limit how fast a driveway can be cleared.
Will clearing damage my interlock or asphalt?
Not when the equipment is matched to the surface. Interlocking pavers and stamped concrete need blades with a rubber or poly edge and a slightly higher cut so a lifted paver does not catch. We note the surface when we quote so the crew arrives set up for it.
Do you handle long rural laneways?
Yes, and they are priced separately from a city driveway. A laneway running a few hundred feet off a township road is a different job in time, fuel and drifting exposure, particularly in the open country west of Kitchener.
